Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday stated that if Congress is voted to power, he will try to pass the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament and also a strict policy of not tolerating harassment of women will be adopted.
In a meeting organized in Jeypore town of Koraput district of Odisha; interacting with women he said, 'there is an urgent need to provide reservation to women in Lok Sabha and also in State Legislatures for ensuring women empowerment emphasizing that the party is very keen to ensure it.
Rahul Gandhi stated that 'If the Congress comes to power, then our approach will be harsh and brutal when any case is corresponding to harassment against women." Speaking about Odisha, he said that if the Congress comes to power in this state, engineering field, medical and any other stream will be granted free education.
Emphasizing on the subject of women empowerment, he told that all women, especially tribals, Dalits and backward communities will be given free education so that they can truly be empowered. Since March 8 is International Women's Day, Rahul Gandhi wished and congratulated women on this occasion.
