Union minister and Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale on Sunday requested the ruling party of both the states of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and YSR Congress for the development of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to join in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Athawale said that there are 353 members of the NDA in the Lok Sabha and there is no need to seek support from any other party. For the development of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy should join the NDA respectively.
He told the correspondents that BJP President Amit Shah has announced that any other party which wants to join NDA, the doors are open for him. I suggest that KCR and Jagan should support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the NDA. The decision to support or not is entirely on them.
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Athawale said that the central government is committed to the development of both the states.
Athawale said the opposition parties were indulging in false propaganda against the NDA government that it was trying to change the Indian Constitution. He claimed that there is no threat to the Constitution as the government remained committed to protecting it.
He said the NDA was not against any community and it believed in carrying all sections of society with it.
