The doubtful consequences of Jagan’s war against judges

Central Home Minister Amit Shah, who recovered from carona virus,  will visit North West Bengal on 17 October to address party cadre. Battle for Bengal will be led by Shah who is keen on bringing down Mamata Banerjee government  and hoist the saffron flag in Bengal. His strategy worked during Lok Sabha which helped BJP win 18 seat surprising  political pundits.  The BJP leaders believe that Modi majic coupled with the central welfare schemes will help them to get the crown in 2021. At the same time, the  party knows well that Assembly election mainly depends upon local factors rather than Central leaders or national issues. BJP will fight in the elections without projecting  a CM’s face as they did in 2016. They started ‘Save Democracy’ campaign against Trinamool Congress (TMC) and expect the carry it forward till elections.

Noted actor and former Congress spokesperson, Khushbu Sundar, joining the BJP has not surprised the political observes in Tamil Nadu. Known for her charisma and dynamism, she left the Congress party reluctantly after being neglected by the party leaders in Tamil Nadu and the party high command in Delhi. She listed her reasons to quit the grand old party in a letter sent to party chief Sonia Gandhi. She has been feeling intimidated by leaders in the Congress party not allowing her to function as a State level leader. Khushbu first joined the DMK, then left for the Congress, now joined the saffron party completing a circle. She started with a party that does not believe in God and ended up with a party that performs in politics in the name of God. She is not the first Indian politician to do so nor would she be the last one.

BJP which won only four seats last time kick-started its campaign at ground level with Bandi Sanjay attacking KCR and MIM party. JanaSena, which is an ally in Andhra Pradesh, wants to make its presence felt in GHMC elections. Its party President Pawan Kalyan had a word with TBJP President Bandi Sanjay and expressed his desire to campaign during elections in Hyderabad.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had complained to the chief justice of India, Justice S.A. Bobde,  that justice N.V. Ramana has been influencing the sittings of the High Court including the roster of a few judges. In his letter to the CJI, the CM said details of  instances of how matters important to Telugu Desam Party have been allocated to a few judges are enclosed in the Annexure, along with the copies of the orders passed in a few matters.

Notification for by-election for the Dubbaka Assembly seat was issued by Returning Officer B. Chennaiah on Friday. October 16 will be last day for submitting nominations. Scrutiny will be done on October 17 and withdrawal of nominations will be allowed till October 19. The polling will take place on November 3 and the result will be announced on November 10.
