While Nehru discovered India, PV reinvented India: Dr. Shashi Tharoor

Hyderabad: Dr. Shashi Tharoor, former Union Minister of State for Foreign affairs and Human resources development, said while Jawaharlal Nehru discovered India, PV Narasimha Rao reinvented India. The former prime minister combined his pragmatism with Nehru’s idealism. Delivering the eighth PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Lecture on ‘Foreign Policy Legacy of PV Narasimha Rao,’ Dr. Tharoor, the three-time MP from Tiruvanantapuram, said although PV was an accidental prime minister who had to take up the reins after the ghastly murder of the then Congress president Rajiv Gandhi, he proved his mettle of statesmanship both internally and externally. Referring to PV as a shrewd tactician, Shashi Tharoor compared him with Kautilya.


New TPCC president’s name to be finalised soon

New Delhi : The name of the new president of Telangana Pradesh Congress president is likely to be announced soon. Manickam Tagore, the AICC general secretary in charge of Telangana Congress affairs, will be meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday and submit his report based on his interaction with more than 160 senior leaders of the Congress party in the State. A final view on the selection of the successor to Captain Uttam Kumar Reddy, who put in his papers recently taking moral responsibility for the humiliating defeats in Dubbaka bypoll and the Great Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, will be taken shortly.

Farmers should end protest

New Delhi: It is well known that farmers are protesting for the past 26 days demanding a roll back on the new farm laws. Five rounds of talks between farmer unions and Central government had failed and protests got intensified with hunger strike from Monday. Government came up with assurances and said it will provide written assurance to the farmers on MSP which was rejected by unions.


Didi to unite Opposition against BJP
