Amaravati : The farmers of Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, would be completing one year of their protest against the government’s policy of shifting the major components of the capital on Thursday, 17 December 2020. The farmers, especially the women, have been waging a battle, demanding that the idea of three capitals should be dropped and the original one capital to the state of Andhra Pradesh be restored.
New Delhi: The NDA government continued with its tinkering politics of dividing the farmers while the majority of the agitating farmers observed fast on the whole of Monday. The farmers have been camping at Delhi border for more than two weeks demanding a repeal of the three contentious agricultural marketing laws made recently. The government has been trying to hold talks with whoever was prepared to break the ranks with the protesting farmers.

Amaravati : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would be visiting Delhi on Tuesday to have talks with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He will be leaving Gannavaram airport at 2 pm by a special flight to reach Delhi by 4 pm. The meeting with the home minister is scheduled at 9 pm. The chief minister would stay there for tomorrow night and return on Wednesday.

New Delhi : The farmers who have been agitating for more than two weeks demanding repeal of three farm laws have started their day-long hunger strike on Monday. Farmer leader Baldev Singh said, “Representatives of farmer unions have started hunger strike at Singhu border this morning.” Heads of 32 farmer unions have launched their hunger strike at 8 am. However, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) which organized a protest last week demanding the release of arrested activists, is keeping away from hunger strike. The union’s Punjab unit’s general secretary Sukhdev Singh said, “We will not participate in the hunger strike.”

If BJP makes one surgical strike in Telangana, two should be done in Andhra Pradesh, said Rao addressing media on Sunday. In Telangana, TRS and MIM played religious politics together. In Andhra Pradesh, YCP and TDP are doing the same though they claim they are not religious parties, GVL said. People of AP will make two surgical strikes in AP, one on the TDP and the other on the YCP, the MP said.
